Is email a formal way for communication in business?
Emails are less intrusive than faxes, especially if sending to clients' homes. Sending to an office, a fax might be better although a well-organized email is perfectly appropriate.
Reply:If you want to communicate with your client who is bring you money, the best way would be to speak with them personally or on the phone and then e-mail them a follow up letter. Most companies don't use fax anymore.
Reply:Some people feel email is for fun and not suitable for business communication. But that's quite wrong. Any single email you sent is a document and equally good as a fax. You can take advantage of sending all varieties of attachments as part of your document - such as pictures, another document, colors, even sounds - which cannot be readily done by faxes. Nowadays, emails can be done almost anywhere because of the wireless internet technology, very convenient for business communications. In my experience, most people will choose email rather than faxes when communicating.

You only use fax nowadays if the other office does not have emailing accessibility or if they requested for fax.
Reply:At this point... the world runs on email...Go with it
Reply:If they have a personlised email address such as, myname@mycompany.com, then it is formally acceptable to email them. Otherwise faxing would be safer, although if you do not direcet the fax correctly, it could go to the wrong department.
